O 2026 Divine Eternal Father Pilgrimage began this Friday (June 26th) and transformed Trindade, once again, into the main destination of faith in the Brazilian Midwest. Thousands of pilgrims participated in the official opening of the celebrations, which continue until July 5th with the theme “We cry out: Abba, Father!”.
The opening program was marked by the Sending Forth Mass, celebrated at the construction site of the New Sanctuary, with the presence of the faithful, religious figures, and authorities. One of the most anticipated moments was the ringing of the Vox Patris, the world’s largest ringing bell, which moved the pilgrims and officially marked the beginning of the 2026 Pilgrimage.
Throughout the day, the city welcomed visitors from various regions of Brazil. Many arrived on foot, on horseback, and in oxcarts, keeping alive a centuries-old tradition that is integral to the cultural and religious identity of Trindade. Masses, processions, and other celebrations reinforced the spirit of faith, devotion, and hope that characterizes the largest religious festival in the Central-West region.
Mayor Marden Júnior highlighted the significance of the start of the celebrations for the city and the faithful. “This is the first novena, the first procession in preparation for the great feast of the Divine Eternal Father. These are nine days of preparation, with the novenas, and we are kicking off this journey. We begin this day with much prayer and gratitude in our hearts to the Divine Eternal Father for all the blessings. We invite everyone to experience these coming days with great faith, devotion, and love for our city of Trindade,” he stated.
To ensure a safe and organized reception for pilgrims, the Municipality of Trindade partnered with various public agencies and reinforced health, urban cleaning, mobility, traffic, inspection, and visitor support services throughout the pilgrimage period.
It is expected that around 4 million faithful will pass through Trindade during the 10 days of celebrations, which strengthens the religious tradition, boosts the local economy, and reaffirms the municipality as the Capital of Faith of Goiás.
